Stormy Bay is a cocktail by RumJava, which beautifully blends the vanilla and cinnamon notes of their Cinna’mon Bay Rum along with the earthy and warming taste of high-quality Ginger Beer. There is a subtle hint of the orange, which is further emphasised by the gorgeous orange and mandarin bitters from Bobs Bitters. RumJava pride themselves in their handcrafted rum, inspired by the Caribbean culture, coffee and of course, rum. The Cinna’mon Bay is infused with cinnamon, hazelnut and Rum’Java coffee beans to give a delightfully warm, spiced and unique taste.
This cocktail itself has a difficulty rating of 4/10, however, if you’re really wanting to push the boat out (pardon the pun) on the garnish and decoration, the difficulty is a 7/10.
We decided to have a little bit of fun with this cocktail, inspired by the pirates of the Caribbean. By using lemon, lime and orange peels we were able to create a boat, a shark and seaweed to decorate the glass, inspired by Chris from The Joy of Drinking and Jorge from Drinks By Impeccable Gentleman.

- In a separate glass, build the cocktail by adding the lemon juice, orange juice, bitters and ginger beer with ice.
- Stir for approximately 60 seconds.
- Strain into the glass over the crushed ice.
- To get a gradient effect, carefully pour the rum over the top of the ice.
- Garnish with your pirate ship.
- Enjoy your drink.
