The Mint Julep is a fresh and minty cocktail, commonly associated with the Kentucky Derby but appreciated all-round. The three ingredients, whiskey, mint leaves, and simple syrup blend well to create a refreshing (and boozy) cocktail perfect for hot days. We recommend you use a whiskey that you really enjoy, as it has a big presence in this cocktail. We used Teeling Whiskey Small Batch which brings a beautiful oaky and sweetness to the drink.

The Mint Julep’s difficulty rating is 2/10 as only it requires a quick shake in the cocktail shaker. Again, the ingredients are easy to obtain and you might even have them already!

We served the Mint Julep in a silver julep cup. By having it in a metal container the outside becomes chilled and creates an amazing frosted effect. The drink is packed with crushed ice to keep you cool, and a sprig of mint is placed nicely on top. Overall, it’s very simple and effective.
